About Laura Roosevelt
Laura Roosevelt is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Dallas, Texas. Roosevelt received degrees in art history and studio art from Denison University and a MA from New York University. Roosevelt has a complex multidisciplinary practice that incorporates diverse materials rich with symbolism and her personal history. Her work has been exhibited at notable institutions, including the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, the Dallas Historical Society, and The Aspen Institute, and is found in collections across the globe.
A great-granddaughter of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Laura Roosevelt carries forward a tradition of American cultural leadership through a strikingly modern lens. Her work includes large-scale paintings, steel sculpture, photography, drawing, and installation, each piece imbued with rich symbolism and the tactile presence of personal history. Each piece in Roosevelt’s oeuvre is charged with palpable energy - driven by story, structure, and spirit. Her layered compositions transcend traditional boundaries, inviting viewers into a dynamic visual dialogue between past and present, abstraction and artifact.
